Orchids and a picnic on top of Mpumalanga

We had a wonderful outing to Mount Formosa near Lydenburg.  This amazing piece of land plays host to so many endemic and rare species of Grassland plants.  Luckily, it is protected by Mpumalanga Parks Board and we were allowed entry by them.

The weather was just perfect and the clear skies offered 360 degree views.

Here is a list of the Orchids seen:

Disa amoena
Disa klugei
Disa rungweensis
Disa brevicornis
Disa versicolor
Satyrium longicauda
Satyrium microrhynchum
Disperis tysonii
Disperis renibractea
Schizochilus cecilii transvaalensis
Disa clavicornis
Brownleea parviflora
Brownleea galpinii
Corycium nigrescens
Habenaria lithophila
Holothrix thodei
Disperis stenoplectron
Disa fragrans
